Cowboy

I got to take the kids to the Discovery Science Place today and while Ladybug was so not interested, Cowboy had a great time. They had a ton of pretty cool stuff for him to do and I am pretty sure we will have to plan a larger slot of time the next time we go. Here are some cute pics of our Cowboy.

Riding the mini dino. Not afraid.

Near the big dino. A little afraid!

What a cute fireman!!

They had an ambulance all opened up. He was making sure that Dora was okay. So thoughtful!

At the Lake

Well, we spent the weekend at Mimi and Papa's lake lot and had a pretty good time. Cowboy LOVES it out there. I think he just likes to see how dirty he can get.

Ladybug's Eye Appt.

Well, she is going to have surgery on Aug 29th. They have to put the tubes in her tear ducks before they fix her cleft. Dr. Stager said that since we are doing that anyway, we should go ahead and fix the muscle that makes her eyes cross and there is something he can do to slow down her nystagmas. (when her eyes "bounce") They can not fix the bounce but they can slow it down and he said this should improve her vision by about two lines. I am assuming that he meant eye chart lines. Anyway...we will be able to come home from Dallas the same day and he said her eyes would just be red for a couple weeks.

She is just the sweetest thing. God is so good to us!

Ladybug's Dermatology Appt.

Mercy. Everyone is always asking me about the blisters on Ladybug's skin and until today I had no idea. They are something she developed while still in the tummy and she should stop getting new ones at about 12 months. The bumps that she has are not going to go away but when she is 2 or 3 they will just look like brown spots. I guess like a freckle. Apparently, in adults it is pretty dangerous but PRAISE THE LORD, for infants it is no big deal unless they grow inside her body instead of just on the outside. Here is what the paper says:

It is called urticaria pigmentosa. It is caused from the presence of too many mast cells in a person's body. Mast cells are located in skin, the linings of the stomach and intestine, as well as other sites and may play an important role in helping defend these tissues from disease. By releasing chemicals such as histamine, mast cells attract other key players of the immune defense system to areas of the body where they are needed. Histamine is involved in reaction such as allergies and hives.

Now, you know what I know. They are going to check her again in 4 months to make sure there are none growing inside. How do they check that you may ask. Yea. I have no idea. I will tell ya in 4 months. :-)
As you can see the bumps do not bother our sweet angel one bit.

Cowboy and Dad

I just wanted to do a post about my two favorite men. While our Cowboy is only three, it is undeniable that he and his dad have that "like father like son" thing down! Whatever Warren does, Cowboy wants to do. Warren works on the house, Cowboy works on the house. Warren gets on the tractor, Cowboy gets on the tractor. Warren drives, Cowboy wants to drive. It is not enough that he looks just like his dad, he tries every day to be just like his dad. Cowboy watches every move Warren makes. He knows he has some pretty big shoes to fill!!

The Boys

So, I am always talking about my Cowboy and Ladybug but I wanted to put some stuff about Warren's kids on here. Jr. lived with us for a couple of years and realized the way we lived was so not his thing so he is back with his mom. David just went back to his mom's after visiting his dad for 6 weeks. One thing about those boys, they both love their dad. I am not too sure they like anything about where we live except that their dad is here.

Jr. is 16 and his imagination is in overdrive 80% of the time. He has carved some pretty cool stuff and can draw anything. He has been playing the guitar and I am sure he will be a Rock Star soon! There is really nothing he can't do. Not to mention - he is one handsome fella.

David is 13 and is super cute! He looks just like his mom. He also likes to draw and spent a ton of time outside this summer. He really enjoys video games but apparently when that is not available he loves riding his bike and spent quite a bit of time swimming. He got to do a little fishing at Mimi and Papa's and he seemed to enjoy that too. We took him to Six Flags for his birthday but as it turned out, he does not like roller coasters!! Always good to know.

I just wanted to post some pictures of the boys to show the rest of our family!!

Ladybug

Well, we went to Dallas expecting to have surgery on her cleft pallet but when we saw Dr. Genecov (Dr. repairing the cleft pallet) he did not like the way her eyes were all gunked up and he was concerned that we do not know what the bumps on her skin are. He thought it would be better for her to get her tear ducts cleaned out and see the dermatologist first.

They went ahead and put tubes in her ears and cleaned out her tear ducts but she is going to have to have tubes put in her tear ducts. I have never heard of that before but we are going to call her eye doctor in the morning and get and appointment. After she gets her eyes fixed up and sees the dermatologist (17th) they will reschedule her cleft surgery.

So anyway...nothing new. Just Ladybug being Ladybug and not going with the flow. Apparently, the flow is BORING.

Ladybug's ENT appt.

Well, we went to the ENT yesterday for her 5th hearing test and she did not pass it. The first 3 test were the probe test she had when she was born and the 4th one, they put the things in her ears. With this one, they just put us in a soundproof room and they wanted her to turn her head to which ever speaker was making noise. Ladybug was just not that interested. When we spoke to the Dr., he said she has probably had some fluid behind her left ear and suggested that when she gets her cleft fixed that we get tubes put in her ears.

She is scheduled to have her cleft surgery on the 12th but she currently has this upper respiratory infection. SO.. we have to go Monday to see if she can be cleared for surgery. If she is cleared, then she will have an appt on Tues. with the ENT in Dallas that will put the tubes in. If she is not cleared then we will just reschedule all of that for a few weeks down the road hopefully. With Ladybug, you just never know. :-)

Auntie Amy

Warren's sister is into poetry and has actually gotten some awards for things she has written. She was listening to Dom (her son) and David (Warren's son) fight and she wrote a poem for Ladybug. What inspiration! Anyway, I thought I would share it.

Every day she grows from her cute little giggles to her toes.

Without a doubt, shes the center of their world

Even though she is Daddy's girl.

An angel from the start she has captured everyone's heart.

And every day is worth while when you see Ladybug's smile.

So we begin

So I am not much of a computer fan and I am so not a blogger BUT my sister-in-law started one and I love it!! I love being able to see the girls grow up through her blog. I am always sending updates on Ladybugs medical info so I thought this way, I can do it once and be done. If ya want to know what is going on with Ladybug, you can check out our blog.
